Greensmere Canine Hydrotherapy Facilities

The Greensmere Hydrotherapy Centre has been purpose built, and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of dogs requiring gentle rehabilitation to improved fitness.

We benefit by being situated rurally within easy and un-congested access via the A12 or A120, less than 5 miles from Colchester, between the villages of Ardleigh and Great Bromley.

Once through the gate our private parking is fully enclosed, with the Centre situated within a safe and secure garden. This means that dogs can safely be let off-lead and encouraged to relax on arrival and to use the large lawned area for any necessary ablutions prior to their appointment.

We have full disabled access and associated facilities throughout. There is ample room to sit and enjoy a tea or coffee, whilst allowing owners to watch their dog’s swim .

Prior to their swim, dogs will have a health check followed by a warm shower. Access to the pool is via gently sloped ramps, and also has the option of an electronic hoist facility for less mobile dogs.

To ensure the maximum benefit, and to encourage the correct conditions for boosting circulation, the pool is maintained at 30° C. This is the ideal temperature for soft–tissue regeneration and for the soothing of stiff and painful joints, resulting in improved mobility.

Pool water chemistry and hygiene is strictly monitored by the use of Photometric testing three times per day, and is also fully recorded inline with CHA guidelines.

All dogs are individually swum wearing a float-coat, or a water-harness. This ensures that the crucial support and professional care of the fully trained and qualified Canine Hydrotherapists can be of the most benefit.
